Our program
Dance for Wellness™
Solo group dance classes designed around the research: movement and thinking at the same time, in good company, to music that lifts you. No experience or partner needed.
The premise
The “magic pill” is dual-tasking.
Remembering a pattern, keeping time, moving with the group — all at once. Group dance asks the brain and body to work together in a way few activities do.
Every Dance for Wellness™ session is structured to keep both engaged, from the first warm-up to the final run-through.
Read the research →Who it’s for
Every age, ability and income.
Older adults
In retirement and senior communities, where dance supports memory, balance and connection.
Communities
In community centers serving areas with high rates of depression and anxiety.
What a class looks like
One hour, five parts.
Taught by trained instructors using the Dance Vision Syllabus, adapted for seated or standing participation.
Arrive and warm up
Gentle movement to music, seated or standing.
Learn a pattern
A short sequence from the Dance Vision Syllabus, counted and named.
Add the second task
Call the steps, change direction, switch the music — move and think together.
Dance it together
Put the whole routine together with the room. Connection is the point.
Cool down
Slow the breath, stretch, and talk.
Questions
Before your first class.
Do I need a partner?
No. Classes are solo group dance — everyone dances on their own, together as a group.
Do I need experience?
No. Classes start from the first step and adapt to every ability.
What does it cost?
Classes are funded by donors and partners, so they’re free or low-cost for participants. Check each class listing for details.
Can I join if I use a wheelchair or walker?
Yes. Every class has seated and supported options. Let the instructor know when you arrive.
